General Awareness Questions Asked in SSC CGL Exams

Weighatge of General Awareness Section

We have General Awareness Section in the Tier-1 of CGL Exam. 

This Section comprises of :
  • No. of Questions: 25
  • Total Marks: 50
  • Per Question Weightage: 2 Marks

This is as per the New Exam Pattern of CGL Exam, as introduced from 2016. Earlier in General Awareness Section there were 50 Questions (50 Marks), but from 2016 CGL Exam, a lot has been changed in the Pattern of CGL Exam.

If, you get 17 to 20 Questions  right in the section, then it will called a Good Attempt.

Syllabus of SSC CGL General Awareness

If, you go through the  Detailed, SSC CGL Syllabus, then you will find, that SSC had given a detailed Syllabus for all other sections excluding General Awareness. 

For this section, they have just written 3-4 lines as given below and there is No Detailed Syllabus for this section.

Now, Lets Elaborate it and see What is Exact syllabus for CGL General Awareness section. 

By going through the Last 15 years of SSC CGL Question Papers, we have divided the General Awareness Syllabus into the below mentioned three Sub-sections

1) Static GK : Static means, that which remains the same. In static GK, we have questions from the following topics and subjects.

1) History
2) Polity
3) Geography
4) Constitution
5) Who's Who
6) Capitals Countries and Currencies
7) Economy 
8) Culture, Scientific Research etc.

This Section Comprises of 40% of Questions in the General Awareness Section

Example of Static GK question: Who was the First Prime Minister of Indian  And What is the currency of Indian ?

This is an example of Static GK Question.  Here, In this case, the answer will always remain the same.

2) General Science : In this section, we have questions checking the Scientific aptitude of the candidates. Questions is this section are of Matriculation level. Questions are further abbreviated to be asked from Physics, Chemistry and Biology section

Examples of General Science Questions

1) Chemical Name of Substances
2) Scientific Units
3) Questions on Law of Physics
4) Scientific Instruments  etc.

There are at least 30 to 35 % Questions from this section

3) Crap : Crap can be anything ie Questions can be asked on any topic, irrespective of Syllabus. But this section is broadly classified into 

  • Current Affairs
  • Books and Authors
  • Computer Knowledge
  • Abbreviations etc.

From this section, we have 30 to 40% Questions.
