SSC CGL 2017 Dates and Schedule has been announced and this is particularly a good news for those, who have not made it to Qualifiers of CGL 2016 Tier-1 Exam, as they have another chance, to appear in the CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam, which is Scheduled to be held in June /July, 2017. CGL 2017 is going to be special, in another way, as it is expected that there will be more than 20000 vacancies to be filled through 2017 CGL Exam. ie There will be Bumper Hiring in Government sector in 2017.


The Notification for CGL 2017 is tentatively scheduled to be announced on 11th March, 2017. SSC CGL 2017 Tier 2 Syllabus and Exam Date

If, you are reading this page, then chances are that either have Qualified the SSC CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam OR you are sure that, you will qualify the Tier-1 Exam OR you simply want information on CGL Tier 2 Exam.

If, you are aware of the SSC CGL Exam Pattern , that, may be aware that SSC CGL Tier-2 exam is only for those, who qualify the Tier-1 Exam. Infact, at this level, you need some serious study, as the Exam structure and Pattern of Tier-2 Exam is quite different from that of Tier-1 exam and that is why it is said that Tier-2 is the real kingmaker of CGL Exam. Though Tier-1 carries equal importance, but weightage wise, Tier-2 ranks much higher.

Infact, SSC CGL Tier-2 Exam, has double weightage, as compared to Tier-1 stage. While Tier-1 is of 200 Marks, Tier-2 carries 400 Marks and this is the reason those, who do well in Tier-2 stage, often find their name in the Selection Lists.

So, all we can say that, Tier-2 is the real test in CGL Exam.


Brief Summary of What happened Till Date


The Notification for SSC CGL 2017 was announced in Feb and after that SSC had opened the Link for submitting the SSC CGL 2017 Online Application form, thereafter the Tier-1 Exam was held in May / June 2017 in which lakhs of candidates have appeared. 

The Tier-1 Results were announced in the month of July 2017 and now everyone is waiting for the announcement of CGL 2017 Tier-2 Exam Dates and Release of Admit Cards.

In this post, we will share each and everything, you need to know about CGL Tier-2 Exam. We will discuss the Possible Tier-2 Exam Dates, Syllabus, Exam Pattern and downloading of Admit cards.


SSC CGL 2017 Tier-2 Exam


The 2nd stage or 2nd round in the CGL Exam in known as Tier-2 Exam. Unlike, Tier 1 exam, where, you need wide extensive study approach, here you need selective intensive study ie you need to study, as per the already defined Syllabus. 

Applicants must note that the Syllabus for CGL Tier-1 Exam is very much different from Tier-2 Syllabus. So, you must go through the Tier-2 Syllabus, before you choose the Books for the exam.

Questions in Tier-2 Exam, are asked as per the prescribed syllabus only.

It is worth mentioning here, that from 2016 , mode of Tier 2 exam is changed to online mode. Earlier the exam was conducted through Pen Paper mode, but in 2016 SSC decided to conduct the exam through online mode only.

Moreover, with in the creation of a new post of Assistant Audit Office in CAG, a new paper of Finance and Economics is introduced in Tier-2 stage, but is compulsory for only those, who have applied for that post.


When in SSC CGL 2017 Tier-2 Exam ?


As per the Official Notification, SSC CGL 2017 Tier-2 Exam is tentatively scheduled to be held in August, 2017 and most possibly, at least one month after the announcement of CGL 2017 Tier-1 Results.

As the Tier-1 Exam in held in May / June, 2017 and results are expected by or before mid of July. So, we expect that Tier-2 Exam, will be held by the Last week of August. However, exact Tier-2 Exam dates, will be known, only after there is official Notification by SSC in this regard.

But, even if you are sure of that you did well in Tier-1 Exam, start you preparation right now

Syllabus for SSC CGL Tier-2 Exam


In this section, we will discuss the content of Syllabus for CGL 2017 Tier-2 Exam.

Good, news is that SSC did not make any changes in the CGL 2017 Tier-2 Syllabus and Exam pattern, things, will go like, as we have for previous years, this is really helpful, for those, who have been preparing and appearing in CGL Exam from the last few years,

As per the Official Notification here is the Pattern of CGL Tier 2 Exam

In CGL Tier-2 Exam, there, will be 4 Papers of 200 marks each and 2 hours duration. While Paper-1 and Paper-2 is compulsory for everyone , Paper-3 is for those, who have applied for Statistical Investigator post and Paper-4 is for those, who applied for Assistant Audit Office post



CGL Tier-2 Paper 1 (Syllabus and Exam Pattern)


Paper -1 of Tier-2 Exam comprises of Quantitative aptitude. The Syllabus of this Paper is different than of Tier-1 Quant Paper Or we can say that, this is the advanced Mathematics Paper, while the standard of Questions is of Matric (10th Standard) Level.

  • No. of Questions : 100 (2 marks per Question)
  • Total Marks : 200 
  • Duration of Exam : 2 Hours
  • Penalty : 0.50 / Wrong answer

CGL Tier-2 Paper 2 (Syllabus and Exam Pattern)

The second paper in Tier-2 stage is of English Language and Comprehension. The Syllabus here is Quite advanced and different than that of Tier-1 English Paper. Here the standard of Question for this section is of 10+2 Level (12th standard).

  • No. of Questions : 200 (1 mark per Question)
  • Total Marks : 200 
  • Duration of Exam : 2 Hours
  • Penalty : 0.25 / Wrong answer

Paper-3 Syllabus and Exam Pattern


As we have mentioned above, this paper is only for those, who have applied for the post of Jr. Statistical Officer. The Level of Questions in this paper is of degree level. 

Question is this paper will asked from "Statistics" subject and as such it is a subjective Paper of objective mode.

  • No. of Questions : 100 (2 marks per Question)
  • Total Marks : 200 
  • Duration of Exam : 2 Hours

Paper-4 Syllabus and Exam Pattern

Paper-4 is for those, who have applied for the post of Assistant Audit Officer a post created in 2016 exam. Here the Questions are asked on Finance, Accounts, Economics, and Governance. Here is the Pattern of Paper-4

SSC CGL 2017 Eligibility Criteria

Staff Selection Commission's (SSC) much awaited Combined Graduate Level (CGL) 2017 Notification and Exam dates, will be announced soon. The tentative schedule, will be known,when SSC announces its official Exam Calendar for 2017, but the exact information on  CGL 2017 Exam Dates, will be known, only after the announcement of SSC CGL 2017 Notification.

Whenever the CGL 2017 Notification, gets announced, the same will be uploaded on the Official website and published in the Employment Newspaper. However it will take some time, as Notification, is likely to be published not earlier than Feb, 2017, but still you can start your preparation for the exam, as over 40 lakh candidates may register for CGL 2017 Exam.

However, there are talks, that SSC may revise the Eligibility criteria for CGL 2017 Exam. If, you are thinking, that, changes, will be made in the Educational Qualification, then don't worry, as CGL being a Graduate Level Exam (CGL), will remain a Graduate Level Exam and the minimum Qualification will remain graduation only.

GK Questions asked in CGL 2016 Exam of 27th, 28th August

SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 Online Exams have started ? Here is the Complete Set of General Awareness Questions asked on 27th and 28th August, 2016.


SSC CGL 2016 Tier-1 Online Exams have started all over the country from 27th august, 2016 and will continue till 11th September, 2016. However, there is a no exam on 5th Sept, 2016. It is worth mentioning here that for the first time, commission is conducting the CGL Exam through online mode. Earlier, the exams were conducted through OMR sheets, but this revised mode of exam is sure to bring more transparency and help in preventing the malpractices including copying of exam and leakage of Question Papers.

Applicants, must note that exams are conducted in three sessions viz Morning, Afternoon and Evening and for each session of each day, there is a separate Question Paper. That means, those, who have exams at later dates, they might get to know, the Pattern, Difficulty Level and Nature of Questions being asked in the Exam.

Apart from this, we will also share Exact Questions, as asked in the CGL Online exams, however, these Questions are limited to General Awareness Section only, however, the credit for these Questions is to be given to the applicants who have appeared for the exam and have shared with us, otherwise, we won't be in a position to share these questions with you.

It is also reiterated, that you should only follow the pattern of Questions, as the exact questions asked in the exam may differ. For Example. If, there is a Question asked on "Book and Authors" in CGL Online Exam held on first 2 days in all the shifts, there you should not take it guaranteed that you will find "Books and Author" Question in your Online exam paper too. It is whole soly depends on the Questions fetched into the SSC Server. So, prepare according to the CGL Syllabus only

SSC CGL 2017 Exam Dates


SSC is highly unpredictable, as far its exam schedule is concerned.

The recent example is SSC CHSL 2015 results, that were announced on 29th July, 2016 after a gap of 8 months. Earlier, SSC had notified, that it will announce the results in the month of May, but ultimately results were announced, after 2 months.

The Exam dates for CGL-2017 Exam, will be know, only after the Notification, will be announced, however, SSC will announce the tentative exam schedule through the SSC Exam calendar 2017

In 2015, the SSC Exam calendar was released on 13th Nov, 2016. We expect that SSC will release the calendar, near by Nov, 2016. It is only after that, we get to know the Schedule and Dates for CGL-2017 Exam

1) Date of Notification : March-2017 (Tentative)

2) Date of Tier-1 Exam : July / August 2017 (Tentative)

SSC CGL 2017 Notification


The Exact Notification Date for CGL  2017, will be known, only when the SSC will release its Examination Calendar for 2017. However, it is expected that, the Notification will be out in the month of Feb/March 2017.

For 2016 CGL Exam, the Notification, was announced on 13th Feb and exams were held from 27th August to 11th Sept, 2016.


The Notification for SSC CGL 2017 will be published in the Employment Newspaper and the Official Advertisement id PDF format, will be uploaded on the SSC Main Website and on the SSC Regional Websites.


The Exam date for CGL 2017 Tier-1 Exam, will be known only after the Notification, will be announced. However, the tentative schedule, will be known after the announcement of SSC Calendar.

Who can apply for SSC CGL Exam 2017 ?


Applicants who are willing to apply and appear in the SSC CGL 2017, must full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions

1) Age-Limit: The minimum required age is 18 years and maximum required age is 27 to 32 years (Depending upon the post)

.Age Relaxations are there as per the Government of India Rules.

2) Educational Qualification: The minimum required Qualification is Graduation only. However for some specific posts there is need of additional Qualification. More, will be discussed, when the Official CGL 2017 Notification will be out.

What are the Jobs offered through SSC CGL 2017 ?


There are more than 25 post categories, for which you can apply and appear in the SSC CGL Exam. SSC CGL Offers primarily two types of Jobs.

1) Desk  Job
2) Field Job.

1) Desk Job: This is one of the most sought after job for people, who love Home to Office and Office to Home routine. We can say, there is no adventure in the Desk Jobs, but at the same time, it offers, comfort for family and social life.

The various posts included as Desk Jobs are Assistants, Clerks, Accountant, Auditor etc.

2) Field Job: As, the name speaks, Filed job refers to all those jobs, where you have to work outside your Office Or visit the office only for short duration and spend most of the time on the field. These are adventurous, Uniform Jobs and involves city to city transfers.

Field jobs provide you an edge over the Desk Jobs, as these involve carrying out Raids, Inspections and surveillance. Filed Job, can be of immense help, in impressing your Girlfriend's Father

Selection Process and Pattern for SSC CGL 2017


Knowing the Selection Process is must, if you are going to appear in SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam-2017. The Selection Process comprises of following:

1) Tier-1 Exam (Online Exam)
2) Tier-II Exam (Online Exam)
3) Tier-3 (Descriptive Paper
4) Tier-4 (Skill test /CPT)

Tier-1 Exam : This is the first stage of the exam and all those who have applied can appear for this Exam. The Structure of Tier-1 Exam is given as under

It is worth mentioning here that in 2016 , SSC had made some big changes in the pattern of Tier-1 Exam. 

Some of the changes, that were made in Tier-1 stage are:

1) Tier-1 will be held through Online mode (computer based)

2) No. of questions reduced to 100 with each section has 25 questions

3) Time Duration is cut short to 75 minutes instead of 2 hours.

4) Negative marking for every wrong answer is 0.50 marks






Tier-II Exam: This is the 2nd Stage of the Exam. Only those, who pass the Tier-1 Exam and score marks with in the range of cut off marks, will be called for the Tier-II Stage.

Only change made in the Tier-2 stage, is that, the exam, will be conducted through online mode (Computer based)

How to Apply for SSC CGL 2017 Exam ?


If you really are impressed with the charm of Government Job, then SSC CGL is for you.

You cannot apply, until the Official Notification will be out. As we mentioned at the very start that SSC CGL 2017 Notification will be out in Feb/March 2017 and picture will become more clear, once, SSC will release its Annual Examination Calendar.

Online Application: To apply for SSC CGL 2017, only online mode is applicable. SSC had discontinued receiving the Paper application forms, a major setback for students with no background of Computers.

However, those candidates can go to the nearest cbyer cafes, and get their form filled 

Online applications, can be submitted at the below mentioned SSC Websites

1) www.ssconline2.gov.in
2) www.sscregistration.nic.in

Application Fee: SSC, in the one such organization that has impressed me, with its application fee. SSC charges only Rs 100 as application fees.

 Moreover, Female Candidates and candidates belonging to other categories
(SC/ST) are exempted from payment of application fees.



SSC CGL 2017 Admit card

Your admission to Examination Hall, will be made possible only if you have Admit card OR Call Letter with you. The Call Letter contains a Roll No., that gives you a Unique Identity.

It is this Roll No. that let your check your Result

The Call Letters, will be sent to your address, at least 2 weeks before the Exam Date.In case, the candidate, didn't receive his/her Roll No, at least One week before the Exam Date, then the candidate, must contact the Regional SSC Sub Office

Result of SSC CGL 2017 Exam


SSC CGL Tier-1 Exam is attended by over 40 lakh people and this is always a tiring job. But with SSC goes online, results will be declared much earlier than expected.

On an average, SSC will take, 4-5 months time, for declaration of result. But now with Online exam, ssc will announce the results in 2-3 months time and those who pass the CGL Tier-I Exam, will appear for Tier-II Exam.

The Declaration of Results and Final Selection and then appointment takes approximately an year's Time. So, its a long journey. So, start preparing today, and see your name in the Selection List.
